So we are 1 week into my only doing one big shopping trip a month and while I did spend more than the $20-$25 I planned this week (and fyi I will again next week lol) there were a couple awesome deals I could not pass up!

First I went to Fisher's Quality Meats. They have had awesome weekly deals the last few weeks and this weeks was Buy 10# Boneless Chicken Breast get 10# Free! So I spent $35.64 there. But with what we already have in the freezer we will have enough chicken to last through the summer!

You don't have to be perfect to be right where you are meant to be

You know how you hear about all this perfect people out there who do so many great and wonderful things?.....Yeah I'm not sure they are real either! 

How about the ladies who always have the perfect outfit, perfect makeup and look amazing?....That is definitely NOT me! I am fine with the fact that I wear scrubs every day, my naturally curly hair is flying all over by noon and make up is a date night and weekend kind of thing!

Oh and then you have the ladies who have homes that look like model homes even though they have toddlers....NOPE not me either! When the munchkins are here its more about making memories and encouraging them to be kids. No I don't let them get too wild but I think they call it "home" for a reason. Home is about peace, security and love. Perfection doesn't fit into that equation for me. 

I am sad to say I am not one of those people who are happy all the time either. I get mad, sad, hurt, and a multitude of other emotions weekly. Guess what? That means I am a human. Everyone is entitled to have feelings and I take full advantage of my entitlement! 

So I'm not a perfect person, don't look perfect, don't keep a perfect house and don't act perfect...so what make me...NORMAL! I have struggled for years with my feeling that I needed to be perfect and somehow felt like every time I failed somehow meant I was not good enough as a person. I am now seeing that every failure lead to greater blessings.

I could not have kids of my own...but that has enabled me to be an amazing aunt and treat my little short people as my own and give them things their parents can't. They are spoiled and I know it! 

My first marriage failed... but I am now married to a amazing man and out of situations that were just not part of the life I dreamed of growing up. Do I have a perfect marriage? Heavens no but, I do have a great marriage and a husband who adores me and I him. 

I did not get a job promotion that I desperately wanted.... but that has lead to me keeping a job where I get to see people in their weakest times and is rewarding (very hard but rewarding!) Not many people get to hear the funny stories so many of our elderly population have to share but I do. Take my advice and listen they have a lot to teach us! Make them feel like they are important and they will show you the windows to their souls and they really have beautiful souls! They remember when love was enough and people where kind. They can tell you about when the four lane highway was a gravel road, milk men, and a time where Mayberry was real! 

I lost my mom, son, and the two grandparents I was closest to in three years....I'm not going to lie this is still a hard one but it has taught me time is short, tomorrow is not promised, and to really live. Make memories today because when you lose those you love the memories get you through. Don't leave things unsaid and make sure people know who you feel. 

There are so many other failures that I am now realizing are blessings and I am sure there are countless others I have forgotten. 

The whole point of this post is to give you a window into me and let you see that I am not just a couponer and coaster rider but I am also a person. I have beautiful flaws and scars that make me who I am. I'm not perfect but I am right where I am meant to be. 

Mom's Night Out Movie

I was given the opportunity to view the new film from Provident & Affirm "Moms Night Out" last week and let me tell you I LOVED it! It was so funny but also had moments that really made you think about all our desires to be perfect in a completely imperfect world!  Watch the Trailer For Moms' Night Out and let me tell you that what you see is not half of the hilarity that ensues! I found that I could relate to all the characters at one time or another and obviously I could relate to Allyson the most as a crazy stressed out blogger! This movie has something for everyone:

Tattoo Parlor...Check
And anyone who has seen "Courageous" and remembers Javier's Snake Kings scene... Robert Amaya is in this movie also and has multiple scenes that are even funnier!
I recommend that everyone get out and see this faith based film on opening weekend May 9 (which is Mother's Day Weekend hint hint gentlemen!)

Simplifying & Organizing

One of my many goals I set forth for myself for 2014 was simplifying and organizing. I have been greatly "simplifying" our home by getting rid of the clutter and junk (Goodwill knows me by name now!).  I have "organized" our paperwork into binders, worked on a written budget, and gotten folders for the filing cabinet (haven't filed yet but hey the folders are here). I have organized the Kitchen cabinets, organized the bathroom cabinets, and organized the fridges and freezers. Now my next step towards simplifying I want to try is only doing one big shopping trip a month and then 3 other small weekly trips for Milk, Produce, & things I can get free or almost free with coupons and that will only take a few minutes. I will post a menu of 20-25 "planned" meals once a month. I am only going to plan 20-25 so there is room in there for date nights out and leftovers. And only doing a big shopping trip once a month will take a lot of pressure off me to get to the store when I have a really busy week. Will I still use coupons? Absolutely just not the way I have the last few years. And thanks to the stupid TV show coupons are not as great anymore anyways. I have found that most of the coupons are not really that great and that digital coupons and savings plans (Mperks, Kroger coupons, Target Cartwheel) are really the way to go now days. If I save 40-50% every big shopping trip that is still huge in my book and a huge amount of savings dollars wise. And my time is valuable too especially now that Brian is only home during the week and I work all week which leaves us only the evenings to do anything.

Menu Plan 2/14- 2/20

I have so stunk at my menu planning the last couple weeks and the next few weeks will be rough due to being really busy with a full calendar! I am very glad that it is looking like we are finally going to start warming up (ok so getting above freezing is a huge warm up at this point lol) so we can get stuff done! Also I have discovered that I am using fewer and fewer coupons and relying more on menu planning and digital savings to be frugal and thrifty so I really have to make myself get the menus done and stick to them!

Real Life Updates

Yep I fell off the face of the earth again and I'm sorry :(  Between all the snow in Indiana, Kayleigh had surgery last week, I was busy at work, & we have had to make some decisions regarding foster placements and I have just been overwhelmed.

This week I am doing some pre-spring spring cleaning and just trying to get the whole house organized and ready for our foster relicensure. We had kept a lot of stuff thinking that we might need it for any future kids but now we realize just how vast the variety of kids me might get are! Since we placed our license on hold from July- January we have only technically taken calls for 6 months and in that time we have had call for kids from 3 days- 12 years, boys & girls, preemie size  to adult size! So we are only keeping kid stuff that Kayleigh, Tristen, and our other niece Cindy need, wear or play with and everything else is going to the new Goodwill. Hopefully once the house is all clean and organized spring will finally arrive and we can get the garage and attic cleaned and organized too :/

Also through the cleaning and organization I will be able to get my stockpile more organized and be able to see what things we really need and what we have more than enough of. As of right now we have more than enough of several categories of items and sadly I know we have at least 3 years worth of office supplies.

I promise to do my best to keep everyone updated on our crazy life and get some deals up soon ;)

Taco Bell Sauce Squad Party

I was given the chance to host a Taco Bell #BottledAwesome #SauceSquad Party from Crowdtap. I was given the full line of sauces but unfortunately one did not survive the trip....

Cottonelle Clean Care Party

Its about time I get back to menu planning! I don't do well flying by the seat of my pants and my menu planning cuts down on the fast food because I didn't plan ahead nights. These week is supposed to be cold and snowy so I want hot meals :)

Monday:  Date Night ;)

Tuesday: Tomato Soup, Grilled Cheese (we have Foster parent class tonight so quick it is!)

Wednesday:  Chicken & Stuffing Bake, Green Beans

Thursday: Taco Night

Friday: Crockpot Rueben Bake

Saturday: Lasagna, Garlic Bread, Salad

Sunday: Leftovers ;)
