K-mart Apparel Clearance

Right now K-mart is offering an additional 40% off all clearance apparel. I am usually able to find lots of cute clothes for the kiddos for really cheap. Don't forget at K-mart you can put clearance in layaway (there is however a $5 layaway fee but most of the time if you are buying several pieces your savings will more than make up for that!)

Artistry Light Up Lip Gloss

Have you ever needed just a little more light to put your lip gloss on? How about needed to touch up while out on date night? Well Artistry has the answer! I was given one of the new Artistry Light Up Lip Gloss to try out and let me tell you I was very impressed. First of all who doesn't love something that lights up? Its kind of like kids love light up toys well big girls love light up lip gloss! But who wants a light up lip gloss is thats the only good thing about it, fortunately Artistry has much more to offer. It goes on smooth and has a cool minty feel. Very refreshing. It comes in 5 beautiful shades such as Champagne (the one I tried a nice neutral shimmery shade), Passion (more of a red), Glitz (pink and sparkly), and also the two limited edition Holiday Shades Confetti (cotton candy pink) & Glamour (mocha).  It also has a handy mirror on the side of the lip gloss to make it perfect for applying while on the go!

These lip glosses retail for $16.05 which is a very good price for a premium branded lip gloss.

Looking to pick up a awesome light up lip gloss for yourself? They are exclusively available through Amway and can be purchased through this link:

Private Selection Review

I was recently given the chance to try out several new items from Private Selections (available at the Kroger family of stores).

Garlic Stuffed Olives- (retails for $4.79) I wasn't sure about the large pieces of garlic in these but, the amount of garlic flavor is just perfect. These wouldn't be something I would purchase all the time but so special occasions I would definitely purchase more.

Basilico Tomato & Basil Pasta Sauce- (retails $2.59) I love a good pasta sauce but, sadly this was not a good sauce. I found it very bland and actually ended up adding tons of spices to it. I do think that it would make a really good dipping sauce for breadsticks though. I could also see keeping a jar on hand for when we have friends come with kids who don't enjoy pasta sauce with lots of spices.

Costa Rican Tarrazu Coffee- I am usually more of a flavored light roast coffee kind of girl but, I found this coffee to be quite good. I added my usual sugar and creamer and was all set for the day.

Classic Water Crisps- These were just what would would expect from a water crisp cracker. Nice and crunchy and perfect with a little cheese on top.

And now my two favorite products, Strawberry Greek Yogurt and Raspberry Cranberry Greek Yogurt-
(retail $1.29 a cup) I really enjoyed these yogurts. They were just what you expect, thick and creamy yogurt with a nice little cup on the side for the fruit.

I found this to be a great feature since this way you can add your fruit a little at a time or all at once, you choose!

Overall I found these products were a little on the pricey side but given the right sale or occasion I would buy all of them again.

I was given either the products or free coupons to purchase them in exchange for my honest opinions. These are in fact my honest opinions.

Homemade Laundry Detergent

What do you get a mommy with 6 kids 1st grade and under? Laundry Detergent of course! My brothers girlfriend is always asking if I will give her some detergent and I of course always have plenty in my stockpile but, I had been wanting to try making my own so I jumped at the chance to put new meaning to homemade Christmas gift.

The three main items needed to make 4.5 gallons are (plus prices I paid at Walmart):

1 bar Fels Naptha laundry bar soap ($.97 a bar)
1 cup Arm and Hammer Washing Soda (3 1/2lb box for $3.47)
1/2 cup 20 Mule Team Borax (almost a 5lb box is only $3.47)
a 5 gallon bucket with a lid or something to cover it with
a whisk or a paint stirrer

Procedure:
Heat 4 cups of water on medium heat in a pot on the stove
Meanwhile, grate the bar of soap into the pot (I grated it into a paper bowl)

Stir with a whisk until disolved
Remove from heat and add the washing soda and the borax
Stir
Dump into a 5 gallon bucket
Add 4 gallons of warm water
Stir

Cover and let sit for 24 hours
It will turn into a gel consistency. Stir again by either using a whisk and sticking your arm down in it (its just soap)...or you can use a paint stirrer attachment on a drill.
Divide it up into gallon jugs using a funnel or a siphon hose or leave it all in the 5 gallon bucket. Easier to handle in small milk jug. Plus you can give it a shake before dispensing.

Use 1/2- 2/3 cup for top loaders
Use 1/4 cup for front loaders (HE)

So since I have plenty more Borax and Washing Soda to make at least 4-5 more buckets I figure this is about 144 loads for $2 or 2 cents a load!! I have a friend who shared this recipe with me and this is all she has used for the past 2 years and she has two young kids and a hubby who works outside.

Covergirl Flipstick

I was recently sent 3 seperate Covergirl Flipstick lipsticks to try in Minx, Vixen, & Stunner. Awesome names huh? I have to admit upon opening the package I was rather nervous 2 were rather bold colors but there was no need to worry!

As you can see there are two seperate shades in each tube. One end has a bold color and the other is a more shimmery neutral tone. The lipsticks are designed to be very blendable unlike many other lipsticks and with 13 seperate duos available the possibilities are endless. So far my favorite shade has been the Minx (think dark & light mocha shades) but I have plans to purchase a few more shades to add to my collection this week.

Matter of fact right now CVS has a  promotion running where if you purchase $10 worth of Covergirl lip products you can recieve $4 in Extracare Bucks back. At my local CVS these were $9.79 so you would need to buy two (and why wouldn't you buy at least two?!) and it would look something like this:

2- Covergirl Flipsticks @ $9.79= $19.58
Get back $4
That's like paying $15.58 for 2 (Really 4 since there are 2 shades in every tube!)

I have several $2 off coupons I would be glad to give out if anyone is interested in purchasing some of these for themselves!

I was given 3 free Flipsticks and multiple coupons to give my review but, that in no way affected my giving my honest opinion.

Free Vitamin Water 6 pack @ CVS through 12/5

Head on over here to print a coupon for a FREE 6-pack Vitaminwater with any $10 purchase (valid through 12/5). This would be a great thing to add on if your planning to do either the Hershey's candy or M&M's deals!

Let's try something new....

With New Years quickly approaching I have been thinking of ways to not only challenge myself more in regards to this blog but, also make it more fun & informational for my readers. So I have came up with 5 new things I will attempt to start this month but, will for sure be making a part of 2013!

#1...My dad has pointed out that I should really keep track of how much I save vs spend. I am going to start making that a part of my shopping trip posts and my monthly budget review and keep a running track for the year. This could get interesting :)

#2...Everyone loves Pinterest right? Well I am going to start posting my attempts at the recipes & crafts and reporting on whether or not they actually work/ taste good/etc.

#3...Freezer Cooking is a great way to stay on budget, and keep from going out to eat. Freezer cooking is also very necessary for us since I also provide food to my dad. I spend one Saturday a month cooking lots of food and then all I have to do is thaw it out during the month and we are ready to go.

#4...I am going to lower my budget to $500 and not count Grandma's groceries toward my budget. It was getting really hard to keep track of her stuff since I usually pick it up and immediately drop it off. This is only taking $100 off our budget but I am finding that we are actually consistently giving several bags of groceries out every month to someone who needs them/ food pantries/ or food drives. I would rather spend more on groceries and know that I am always going to have more than enough to hand someone in need several bags to help get them through. Also don't forget this also includes all gifts besides Christmas and since in the next couple weeks we will be adding another nephew that will bring us up to 3 parents, 1 grandparent, 6 siblings/spouses, & 15 nieces/nephews...not counting friends, weddings, baby showers, etc....Yikes that is a lot of birthdays!!!!

#5...And speaking of presents I am going to start a running list of what's in my birthday present box. I purchase things throughout the year when I can get them for super low prices and keep them hidden away until they are needed. Last years February Target toy clearance supplied me with Easter basket toys and birthday presents for many of the kiddies.

I may add more features on as the year goes but for right now I will focus on making those and what I already do a success.

Start your year off right! Coupon Class

And I am going to offer the class for FREE to anyone who RSVP's by December 25th, ($5 after). Just email me (thrillsandsavings@gmail.com) or comment on here for more information.
