Kroger Spring Dinners

I was recently given the opportunity to try several products from the Kroger Brand and make a great spring dinner. 

I tried out: Kroger Refrigerated Mashed Potatoes, Refrigerated Mac & Cheese, Cake Mix, Icing, Crescent Rolls, & Moist Tender Pork Tenderloin.

Pork Tenderloin- Was very good, I did have to cook it longer than the directions stated but, it was a large one so no big deal. It was very juicy and I only added a little brown sugar & mustard glaze before cooking it.

Crescent Rolls- They were very good, flaky & delicious.

Mashed Potatoes-  these weren't very good. I found them to be very bland and very fake tasting.

Mac & Cheese- This was by far our least favorite item. They tasted like cardboard and the sauce was VERY runny. I would hope we just got a bad batch and that they are really much better.

Cake Mix-I used this to make a pudding poke cake and it turned out really good.

Icing- We just used this as a filling for graham crackers. Very good and rich.

Overall I was very pleased with 4 out of 6 items and they made a very good meal for my family.

I was given products for free to faciltate my review. These are my honest opinions.

Nescafe Memento Coffee Drinks

I was given the opportunity to try out all three of Nescafe Memento's flavors from Bzzagent. I love that each of these boxes which retail for around $4 makes 8 coffee drinks. They are very good but my favorite is the Mocha.

These drinks are very tasty and rich just like thier expensive coffeehouse counterparts. And they are so simple to make just mix with hot water.

I was provided with free products to faciliate my review. These are my honest opinions.

Week 1 of $20 Challenge

We will be heading to Walt Disney World in 6 weeks and who doesn't need a little extra cash at vaccation time? Well one of the best things about having a great stockpile from couponing is the ability to take shopping breaks. I have 2 freezers, 2 fridges, and tons of shelves full of stuff so now we will be taking a little shopping break. I will only allow myself $20 a week to get produce & bread (I have a bunch of milk frozen but if that runs out I will include milk in the $20). Everything else will be coming from what we have. Not only will this free up more money to spend in Florida it will also give us a little more time to work on things around the house we need to get done.

Where to find coupons?

 

I know I have been asked countless times where do you find all your coupons? Well the answer is a lot of places!

#1. Newspapers- I get a Muncie Star Press at my house, I purchase a Sunday Indianapolis Star, I have a friend who brings me the inserts from her paper (Marion I think?) and I also get my grandmothers coupons. That right there is 4 sets but, a lot of times they will have completely different coupons. Indy gets higher value coupons than Muncie because it costs more to live there.


#2. Clipping Service- I order coupons almost weekly from a clipping service. You cannot "sell" coupons but you can pay for her "time to clip, sort, and mail them to you" I personally use

Her coupons come in lots of 5 and if I order on Sunday I always have them by Thursday or Friday. I know some people order coupon off ebay but it is a very risky choice. Too many people get fake coupons or photocopied coupons (which is illegal to use!). If you choose to buy on Ebay remember if it seems to good it probably is. 

 

 

#3. Printables- While some stores make it difficult to use printables (Walmart I'm talking to you!) all stores should and there are tons of printables out there. The three printables sites I use and trust are:

There is also I site called www.couponnetwork.com but you have to really pay attention there because some of the things advertised are actually catalinas that will print at certain stores after you buy certain items.

#4. Catalinas- Speaking of catalinas are the coupons that print out at the register at places like Marsh & Meijer. They are usually only good at the store they print at.

#5. Store Coupons- Walgreens has monthly booklets of coupons right as you walk in the door, Target has printable coupons on their site, CVS has the magic coupon machine (red box near the front scan your card and it gives you coupons!)

#6. Digital- Marsh, Mainstreet Market, & Kroger you can link to your card. Target you can sign up for mobile coupons sent to your phone (need a smartphone for this), Meijer Mperks are linked to your cell number (any cell with texting ability will work for this one)

There are also other random ways to get coupons: free samples come with coupons, peelies on products, blinkie on store shelves, facebook, etc.
